Existing owners of Total War: SHOGUN 2 will receive the original DLC at no additional cost and will be eligible for a time-limited 75% loyalty discount when upgrading to the Complete Edition, making this the ideal opportunity to return to the battlefields of Japan.

1. What is Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Complete Edition?
Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition is an updated and enhanced version of Total War: SHOGUN 2 and all of its DLC in one complete package, developed by MATABOO, Creative Assembly, and SEGA for PC.
2. What is new with Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Complete Edition?
Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Complete Edition includes:
- An updated and improved Total War: SHOGUN 2 and all of the associated DLC, including both Rise and Fall of the Samurai
- Improved visuals with updated lighting, shadows, textures and more
- 1440p and 4K UI scaling
- Modernised controls
- Japanese and Chinese voice acting and full text localisation
- 50 + newly playable minor factions
- Integrated in-game mod support using Mod.io
- 64bit upgrade
On Steam, players will also receive the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 and all of its DLC*
*excluding the Blood Pack due to Age Ratings.
3. When does Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition launch, and how much will it cost?
Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition will launch on Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, and GOG on Tuesday 13th October at 16:00 BST / 08:00 PDT / 23:00 CST / 00:00 JST +1.
It will be priced at £34.99 / €39.99 / $39.99.
4. I already own Total War: SHOGUN 2 - what happens to my edition?
Existing owners of Total War: SHOGUN 2 will receive legacy DLC from the original game at no additional cost and will be eligible for a time-limited 75% loyalty discount when upgrading to Complete Edition, making this the ideal opportunity to return to the battlefields of Japan.
- The discount will be available from launch on 13th October, 16:00 BST / 08:00 PDT / 23:00 CST / 00:00 JST +1
- The discount will end on 12th November, 16:00 GMT / 08:00 PST / 00:00 CST +1 / 01:00 JST +1.
5. What storefronts will Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition be available on?
Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition is launching on PC for Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store and GOG.
- Purchasing on Steam will include Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition and the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 and all it’s associated DLC (excluding the Blood Pack).
- Purchasing on the Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store or GOG includes Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition only.
6. Can I use mods from the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 in Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Complete Edition?
Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition is launching with integrated mod support with Mod.IO, therefore mods from the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 are not compatible with Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition.
Mods for the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 will remain unchanged.
7. Will there be any changes to Total War: SHOGUN 2 on Steam?
Yes. From 28th September 2026 at 17:00 BST / 16:00 UTC / 09:00 PDT / 00:00 CST +1 / 01:00 JST +1, Total War: SHOGUN 2 will no longer be available to purchase as a standalone game on Steam. The Steam store page will remain live, but the game and its DLC will instead be included as part of Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition.
For existing owners, nothing will change. The game will remain playable, and all current Steam owners of Total War: SHOGUN 2 will be granted any DLC they do not already own, for free.
8. Is Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition replacing the original game on Steam?
No. Total War: SHOGUN 2 will still exist on Steam and will continue to be playable as normal. For anyone wanting to purchase the original Total War: SHOGUN 2, it will be included as part of the Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition.
