HOW TO REMOVE MODS

If you are experiencing an issue with your game, removing modifications (mods) may resolve your issue, or allow us to better troubleshoot the problem if it persists.

NOTE: you may need to start a new game campaign if your existing/current game save is mod dependent!

Most of our older Total War titles are modded by adding files or installing additional mod managers.

This guide will assist you in removing mod related files from games that do not use the game client workshop.

Typical installation directory

Most mods are added into the game installation folder, which by default is:

C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Your Total War Game\

Here, depending on the mod or setup, the files might be within the data or mods folder.

You can either delete them or move them to a different location on your computer.

After that is done, it is best to verify the game cache:

  1. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu,
  2. Select Installed Files and click the Verify integrity of game files... button,
  3. Steam will verify the game's files.
