How to add leagues when starting a new game?
You can decide what leagues you want your save game to start with via Advanced Setup. Simply add the leagues you wish to include during the Game Settings step whilst creating a new game.
You can run multiple nations/regions and leagues (both men's and women's) in any save game. The number of nations/regions and leagues you will be able to handle will depend on how powerful your PC/Mac is.
How to add or remove leagues in a save game?
During a save, you have the option to ‘Add/Remove Leagues’. To do so, navigate to ‘FM Menu’ (the cog icon next to the calendar in top right corner) and click ‘Add/Remove Leagues’.
Leagues are added/removed on the given league update day of that nation, which varies for all nations in game. Generally, it will be between the end of a given season and the start of the next one. Upon the league being activated, a large group of newgens will be created to account for the lack of players in said leagues when they were inactive.
In addition, when creating a save or adding leagues, you will have 3 options:
'Playable' - you will be able to manage a club from the league, with all active players loaded.
‘View-Only’ - you will be unable to play in that league. But the rules of a league will remain functioning, such as being able to view matches/results but without the active players being generated for the league in order to keep the database size smaller.
'Playable/View-Only Below' - This option is only available when you select a higher division for a nation/region. One of the key advantages of this option is that you can maintain a relatively small database size but still can view results in the lower leagues.
