[Steam only] What can I do if I can’t progress the game in the transfer window since the 24.2 update?

If you have been experiencing a crash when progressing on a specific date within the transfer window period in Football Manager 2024 on Steam since the 24.2 update, we suggest you read the general crash troubleshooting FAQ first.

If you still can’t resolve the issue, please try the following:

  1. [Optional] Backup the save game you are having a crash issue with
  2. Go to the Library on Steam
  3. Locate “Football Manager 2024” in the games list
  4. Right-click on it and select “properties”.
  5. Select “Betas” on the left of the new window and copy/paste “Y3avcJYS6PgDkVMg” into the text box on the right of the image.
  6. After pasting in the code, click on “Check Code” and confirm opt-in to the Beta.

The “Beta Participation” check-box will then change to “private_beta – Invitation Only”

The build should automatically start downloading and then launch like any other Steam game.

If you no longer experience the crash whilst playing in the private beta build, then you are free to continue playing in this build. Please be aware that you won’t be able to play in the retail version until there is a future update to the game. We strongly advise you to switch back to playing in the retail version as soon as there is a future update. To return to the retail version, simply select “none” in the box next to “Beta Participation”.

If you still can’t resolve the issue after trying the above or if you have questions regarding the private beta build, we suggest you contact our support team, and we will try our best to assist you.

Please note that you won’t be able to continue any online save games unless all clients are also using the same build.
