If you’re having issues when saving the game, there are a few potential reasons which can be troubleshooted.
Initially we’d recommend attempting to save to a different location. By default you should be saving locally to the following location - C:\Users\Your Windows Username\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 20xx\games
In some instances they may be slightly different or encounter issues if you documents folder is configured with OneDrive. In order to test, when within a loaded save go to FM -> Save As
On this screen click ‘Browse’ then attempt to save to a different location. We’d recommend the desktop, as this location is unlikely to encounter any issues which could be affecting your Documents folder. If you find this is working correctly, then there is a problem with your Documents setup on Windows or OneDrive.
You can also try when using the ‘Save As’ function, saving to ‘Cloud’ rather than ‘Local’ to see if it’s just an issue when saving to Disk.
If you find there is an issue saving to the original location, you can change this via your FM in-game preferences. Once within the preferences, using the search box type location – this will give you the option of ‘Location – Choose the location to save all your files to. Make sure you have a folder created for where you’re trying to save.
If you’ve tried all of the above and are still having issues, it could be down to a system conflict, most likely with an anti-virus. We would suggest reading our Anti-Virus FAQ in order to setup without problems. In some cases they may require removal, but do make sure you remain protected as instructed before taking further steps.
As a warning, we would very much suggest NOT using any custom unofficial apps with the game, as these have not been tested and cannot be guaranteed to work. Any unofficial scouting or editing apps have the potential to cause severe problems.
