If you are receiving the error message "unknown_native_error (crash during PSO precompilation)" when you are playing on a device with an AMD GPU, you will need to reinstall your GPU drivers. Please try the following:
Important precautions before starting
- An internet connection is required during the process.
- Close the game and all other applications before starting.
- As you will need to enter Safe Mode and you'll need to reboot your device sometimes, keep this guide open on another device so you can follow it.
- Estimated time required: approximately 30–45 minutes.
Preparation
Download the AMD driver
- Go to https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html
-
. Select your graphics card and click “Submit”.
-
. Select “Previous Versions”
-

Download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)
- Download DDU from its official download page (“Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) Official Latest Version”).
- Click Download and extract the ZIP file to C:\AMD_Drivers\DDU\ before proceeding.
Steps
STEP 1: Run AMD Cleanup Utility
The first step is to remove the currently installed driver using the official AMD tool.
- Close all applications.
- Double-click amdcleanuputility.exe saved in C:\AMD_Drivers\.
- When asked “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”, click “Yes”.
- When the Yes/No dialogue asks whether to run in Safe Mode, click “Yes”; the PC will automatically restart in Safe Mode and you can sign in normally. AMD Cleanup Utility will launch automatically after restarting.
-
If you get a message that AMD Cleanup Utility cannot run in Safe Mode, start Safe Mode manually and then run amdcleanuputility.exe afterwards.

-
If you get a message that AMD Cleanup Utility cannot run in Safe Mode, start Safe Mode manually and then run amdcleanuputility.exe afterwards.
- With AMD Cleanup Utility running, display an “OK / Cancel” confirmation dialogue. Click “OK” to start the clean-up.
- A small banner or window (such as “In progress”) will appear while the clean-up runs. The display may briefly flicker or go black; this is normal. It usually takes a few minutes but may take up to 15–20 minutes. Do not turn off the PC until it has finished.
- When the “View Report / Finish” screen appears, click “Finish” if you do not need to review the report.
- When prompted to restart, click “Yes” to restart in normal mode.
STEP 2: Completely remove the driver using DDU (Safe Mode)
After using AMD Cleanup Utility, use DDU in Safe Mode to thoroughly remove any remaining driver components.
- Open the Start menu and select the power icon.
- Hold down Shift while clicking “Restart”.
- On the “Choose an option” screen, select “Troubleshoot” → “Advanced options” → “Startup Settings” → “Restart”.
- After restarting, press 4 to enable Safe Mode.
- Open C:\AMD_Drivers\DDU\ and launch Display Driver Uninstaller.exe.
- On first launch, a settings/warning dialogue will appear. Review it and click “Close”. The default settings may be left unchanged.
- Under “Select device type” on the right, choose “GPU”.
- Under “Select device”, choose “AMD”.
- On the left, click “Clean and restart”.
- DDU will remove the driver, registry entries and driver store entries. The screen may go black for a few minutes during processing; this is normal.
- if DDU says that no AMD driver was found, this indicates that AMD Cleanup Utility completed successfully. Proceed to STEP 3 to install the downloaded AMD driver.
- Once complete, the PC will automatically restart in normal mode.
If the display resolution is low after restarting (e.g.: 1024 × 768), this indicates that DDU has worked correctly.
STEP 3: Install the AMD driver afresh
Run the previously downloaded version 26.2.2 installer.
- Double-click the driver installer saved in C:\AMD_Drivers\.
- When prompted to choose an extraction location, click “Install” without changing the default path.
- When the installer has finished preparing, the installation screen will appear.
-
Important:
- Under “Additional Options”, select “Minimal” as the software type and continue. Do not select “Default”.
- Tick “Factory Reset” under “Additional Options” on the installation screen. Leave all other options unchanged.
- Click “Install”.
- Wait for the installation to complete (approximately 5–10 minutes).
- When “Installation Complete” appears, click “Restart Now”.
- The PC will restart
STEP 4: Verify the installation and test if the crash persists.
After restarting, check that the driver has been installed correctly and whether the crash has been resolved.
- Right-click the desktop and open “AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition” (or search for it from the
Start menu). - Open “Settings”→“System”.
- Check that the driver version is correctly showing as the version you installed. If it is, the installation has been successful.
- Then launch Stupid Never Die as normal and play for at least five minutes to confirm it remains stable.
