FOOTBALL MANAGER WON'T LAUNCH AFTER CLICKING THE PLAY BUTTON ON STEAM
- Make sure you’ve disable compatibility mode for Steam
- Restart your PC
- Launch Football Manager on Steam

AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE UPDATING [FOOTBALL MANAGER 20XX] (UNKNOWN ERROR)
In some cases, this can be resolved by simply upgrading the Operating System on your device.
ERROR CODE 1000
- Disconnect any DNS/ VPN's, and play through your home Wi-Fi.
- Ensure any anti-virus software isn't interfering with Football Manager.
- Completely log out of Steam, close all related applications and log back in.
- Remove all third-party content (skins/logos/faces etc.).

ERROR CODE 5000
Once you've done so, the next time you launch the game you’ll be prompted by a pop up to allow Epic games to connect to ‘Use [Football Manager 20XX] with your Epic Games account’ - you must click ‘ALLOW’ and it should work.
CONTENT FILE LOCKED STEAM ERROR / DISK WRITE ERROR
If you're on a Mac and are seeing this error, in some instances it will be due to a permissions issue and you need to allow full disk access to Steam. To do so, follow these instructions:
- Go to System Settings
- Select Privacy & Security
- Select Full Disk Access, click the + and authenticate
- Go to Applications, Steam, then click "Open"
- Ensure the button is over to the right next to Steam in the apps list to indicate it allows full disk access
GAME COULD NOT BE SAVED
PC/ Windows:
Please delete the 'Preferences' folder in the 'Football Manager 2024' folder within AppData. The AppData folder is hidden by default. Check here for guidance on how to access hidden files and folders.
C:\Users\[Your Windows Username]\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2024\Preferences
MAC:
Please delete the 'Preferences' folder in the 'Football Manager 2024' folder within Application Support. The AppData folder is hidden by default. Follow the steps below to access hidden files and folders.
- Open Finder
- Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
- Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
- This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2024’
Once visible, please delete the preferences folder at the below path:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive\Preferences
Note: Some settings are reset, you will have to revert them to how you had them before.
